For cakes size does matter ! You obviously need to keep in mind how many people will want to have a piece of that cake and also how big a piece you are going to allow them to have. Size also has an influence on the impact that a cake is going to have at your event.

On the whole our cakes have a minimum depth of 10cm. Exceptions to this are fruit cakes made to order and novelty cakes which can vary in depth depending on the design. We include details of the portion numbers for all our cake designs as part of the order process. The standard way of describing portion sizes is to talk about them as either a FINGER PORTION or DESSERT PORTION. We have added a further LARGE PORTION as a guide.

The industry standard for a high quality cake is a finger portion which is 3cm x 3cm x 10cm. This typically is the same amount of cake as a regular cupcake would provide.

A dessert portion would be 2.5cm x 5cm x 10cm as illustrated below and is generally served at an event with some sort of fruit or ice-cream accompaniment for example.

A large portion is for those who want to provide a bigger piece and measures 3cm x 6cm x 10cm.

Our cakes are substantial and satisfying and triple filled and so you need less than say a light victoria sponge style cake. Feel free to cut your cake how you would like as this is just a guide.
